Happy Monday: Spring Break Recap 2021

Goooood morning, friends!!! It’s so nice to be back after a week off. I hope you all had a wonderful week.

We had a wonderful Spring Break in HHI with Joseph’s mom and step dad.

When we arrived on Thursday, it was cold! But by Sunday, the weather was beautiful. We watched online service that morning and then had brunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Poseidon. And then we took a couple of “Easter” pics of course.

I am still in shock everyday at how quickly our kiddos are growing up.

I didn’t buy “Easter” outfits this year because I knew that we would be out of town and watching online service in our pjs. But I did buy this dress from Amazon and I love it! I’m also loving my sandals. I wore them all week!

The weather only got warmer as the week went on. That meant a lot more beach time than we normally get on Spring Break. And this girl couldn’t be happier about it! She is our beach bum!

This kiddo spent more time on the golf course with his buddy than he did on the beach. So I had to take a picture of this rare sighting, ha! He did have his best rounds of golf this past week. He was so excited! He’s been working super hard!

Mary’s friend joined us for the week and they both had a great time. Lots of bike riding, general store shopping and sun bathing for these two.

Nonny and Papa joined us late Monday night and stayed with us all week. It was so nice to have that time with them. Aside from the beach, the kiddos loved fishing in the small lake that’s on the back of the property.

And they also took the paddle boat out for a spin!

Oh! I almost forgot. Mackenzie got to play her first round of 18 with Joseph and Jojo! She had a blast! She was exhausted, but loved it.

She has been waiting for this moment for a long time!

We didn’t eat out too much. The island was hopping and the restaurants had such long waits. I was able to get reservations for one of our nights there.

And then afterwards, we took some pics at Shelter Cove Park.

I took these two to lunch and TJ Maxx earlier that day and they bought matching outfits. Aren’t they so beautiful?!

We ended the night with a round of putt putt and then went home to watch a movie.

Friday, we went to Harbour Town to eat lunch at the Crazy Crab. Nonny took this picture of Papa and Jojo. I love how they are walking the same.

And then we went home to clean and pack.

It was such a good week! So thankful for the amazing weather and family time. It was so needed for all of us!

Towards the end of the week, I went on a solo run and was just overwhelmed at my view of the ocean.

It reminded me of how BIG my God is and how SMALL I am and that He is God and I am not.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— he remains faithful forever. Psalms 146:6

So thankful for God’s unfailingly love. Even when things happen that my mind can’t comprehend, I can trust His ways.

I hope you all had an amazing week!! And I hope you have a GREAT Monday!

XO

What’s Up Wednesday {3.31.21}

Hi, friends! On the last Wednesday of the month, I link up with Shay and Sheaffer for a fun link up. As Shay says, “It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.”

It’s also the last day of the month! What?! I love this time of year. The beginning of spring, the end of the school year, summer! I can’t wait!

But back to What’s Up Wednesday! Are you ready? Grab your coffee and let’s do this.

1. WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

I have nothing fun to share here. Our lives have been so crazy this month and sadly, we’ve eaten out more than we like to do.

So what have we eaten? Chick-fil-A! Lol!

2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

I’ve actually thought a lot about this time last year. I know there was so much uncertainty and anxiety around the world, but there was so much peace in our home.

We truly handed it over to God and He was so faithful. I miss our days at home with nothing on the calendar. We took walks everyday, we had movie night every single night and ate dinner together every evening.

Last Easter, we sat in our pajamas on the couch and watched the service online. And every night leading up to Easter we talked about what Jesus was doing that day. We watched Passion of the Christ on Good Friday and completely experienced a Holy Week in a whole different way.

It is true what the Bible says that what the enemy means for evil, God turns it for our good. Goodness comes from our adversity.

I am so thankful for 2020. It brought my little family closer. Today, we still have movie nights and my kids would rather spend time with us than be out and about with friends. We do more as a family and I have 2020 to thank for that.

3. WHAT I’M LOVING:

Joseph and I have been working together for a couple of years. But I’ve always handled the operations and marketing for our business. Lately, I’ve been getting myself out there and actually showing properties to clients. We’ve also tag teamed a lot lately and helped our clients together. It’s been really fun!

I’m excited to continue to venture more into the agent side of real estate. I do have the best trainer teaching me his ways so I’m a lucky gal!

If you’re local, I would love to help you! Send me a message and let’s connect!

4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

Oh man…these kids are running us ragged, ha!

Jojo is finishing up middle school golf and playing for a league. So we are busy every day with him.

Mackenzie is deep into the soccer season. Practices and games every week and weekend!

And she also started golf! So we have that once a week.

And our bear, well she’s had a lot more time on her hands. Her sport doesn’t start until late summer so she’s enjoying her time off!

She’s staying active by walking our dog, Georgia and yesterday she decided to go for a run after her walk! It made my runner heart so happy!

5. WHAT I’M DREADING:

Laundry. Need I say more? Ha! Laundry has been the thorn in my side for weeks. Ugh.

6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

I’m working on a couple of real estate projects and just trying to keep my head above water with chores at home. This season is so crazy for us and I’m just trying to stay positive.

I’m also working on a couple of fun blogging things! It’s still in the early process, so I’ll share more soon.

7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

SPRING BREAK!! Woohoo! Anyone else?!

8. WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:

I started watching Ginny and Georgia and it’s so good! I’m so slow when it comes to watching series so I’ll get to the end eventually. But I am loving it so far! Have you watched it?

During quarantine, I joined a book club in my neighborhood. I read the most I’ve ever read during that time because hello, there was nothing else to do lol!

I’ve missed the last couple of meetings because kids sports and also, I haven’t been able to read the book of the month. It’s been so frustrating because I love reading.

I’ve been walking everyday and thought that I would give Audible a chance. And y’all, I love it! I “read” the book in under 48 hours! And it was a good one!

If you love a thriller, this one is good! I’m excited about finally making it to book club next month and actually reading the book.

9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

Oh y’all! This song right here has been on repeat since Sunday!

Soooo good!!

10. WHAT I’M WEARING:

Well… let’s see. Lots of leggings and T-shirts lately. I have not gotten dressed like I normally do. I think because we’ve been so busy!

But speaking of leggings, these right here are amazing! If you are looking for a less expensive option then these are it. They have that buttery soft feeling and totally remind me of the lululemon align leggings.

I have them in black and just ordered these! I love the blue color.

I am also wearing these denim shorts from Target on repeat. And this sweater! I have it in two colors.

I also splurged on these beauties!

They will definitely be a staple in my wardrobe this spring and summer. And they are on sale!

11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:

We are headed to our favorite place, HHI!!

12. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

We are headed to HHI so definitely looking forward to some family time. It’s been much needed. I’m just praying that the weather forecast stay the way it looks right now. I’m also looking forward to the end of April, ha! It means that May is almost here and that means the end of the school year and start of summer!

13. WHAT ELSE IS NEW:

Nothing else, really! I’ve covered it all!

I hope you all have an amazing day!! Thank you for reading!

XO

Friday Favorites

Oh my goodness, can I get a TGIF?!

Y’all.  This week.  Gracious.  We had SIX softball games in Four days, Football practice three of those days and we hosted small group at our house.  Today, we have our school fundraiser for the big kids and my crossfit team is doing our weekly team workout.

Not to mention, laundry is piled up, bedrooms need cleaning and my sink has not been empty all week.  #momminainteasy

But it’s Friyay and that makes me happy!

Today, I am linking up with Erica, Andrea and Narci to share some of our favorite things from the week.  Grab your coffee, take a breather and get comfy.

ONE

I was looking through old pictures and came across this one.  Can we just take a minute to look at my sweet girl?  We’ve had a rough week y’all.  She has been extra whiny and emotional.  She cried one morning because I started to fix Mary’s hair before I did hers.  It’s been rough, but then I see these pictures and it reminds me that my baby isn’t a baby anymore.

I normally try to space out having lunch with the kiddos at school.  It was Jojo’s day, but she cried and well…I made it work.  Jojo has “brunch” at 10:55 so I went to Hardees at his request ha!  Chicken biscuits for him and his buddy.  Then I left a little early around 11:20 to go back to Hardees and get this sweet thing some chicken tenders and fries.  She has lunch at 10:32 so I was cutting it close, but I made it! img_7154

TWO

Mary went on her first overnight field trip to Jekyll Island last week.  She had a blast, but we were so happy to have her home.  I felt like a “bad mom” because I didn’t go with her, but she was well taken care of by all of my sweet momma friends.  I think it really helped her to do this without me.  Earlier this year, she struggled with anxiety and some minor panic attacks.  I was so worried that it would all come back, but thank God it didn’t. Mackenzie missed Mary!  As much as they fight, they really do love each other.  Mackenzie made Mary a sweet card while she was gone.

THREE

I am loving my new Halloween booty shorts and sports bra by Born Primitive.  You can read all about this awesome brand here.  Ladies, if you are looking for a new sports bra-check them out!  Use my BFF’s code: Sanders15 for 15% off.

FOUR

This week was lunch with my kids week.  I try to do this a couple of times during the school year.  The weather was beautiful this week so we sat outside.

FIVE

It’s competition month at our crossfit box.  We are celebrating our ONE year anniversary all month-long.  Here I am #meanmuggin representing my #teamnumberjuan.

I love watching our morning crew interact with the evening crew, athletes lifting heavier, running faster, jumping on a box and rope climbing for the first time.  We’ve had a blast!  If you are looking for a community of athletes from all different walks of life and fitness levels, come see us!  You don’t have to be “in shape” to come.  We help you get there.  All of our workouts can be scaled and modified to fit your fitness level.  I promise you can do it!  Check us out on Facebook!

SIX

My sister-in-law dropped off some goodies at our house this week.  In the goody bag was this awesome, big jar of squash relish.  Oh my.  Y’all.  This stuff is so good.

SEVEN

My sweet Mackenzie made me this card at school.  Gosh I love that girl!

EIGHT

On Sunday, we decided to go to 12 Stone Church.  We are “in between” churches I guess you can say.  After dad passed away, I wanted nothing to do with church.  We didn’t go for over a year and then couldn’t get in a good routine of going.  On Sunday, our schedule was a little off so we opted to go to 12 Stone.  I’m so glad we did.  It was exactly what I needed.  We started a new series that you can watch here.

What I have loved is that each day, they have a devotion that goes back to the message from Sunday.  It’s really challenged Joseph and I this week.

Here’s Day 1.  There’s links to the following days at the bottom if you want to follow along.

If you are a praying friend.  I know not everyone prays, but if you do will you pray for us?  We have struggled to find a church home since dad passed.  Pray that we can find a place that will challenge, encourage and help us grow in our walk with God.

This Instagram post spoke such truth to my heart this week.

NINE

I am hosting a Virtual Bible Study and would love for you to join me!  We will start this Sunday.  You can read all the details here.  I’ve worked on it this week to get a head start and it’s going to be so good!  It’s already encouraged and challenged me so much!

TEN

A couple of weeks ago I spotted these cute shoes at Old Navy.  I am a sucker for leopard print and love that it’s back in style this fall.  You need these shoes!  Pair them with some jeans and a plaid shirt for a fun fall look.

And that wraps up this week’s Friday Favorites.

We have a busy but fun weekend ahead. It is finally feeling like fall around here and we’ve been blessed with some beautiful days.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Friday Favorites

Good morning friends! Can you believe it’s the last Friday of the month?  Where has the month gone?  I am looking forward to October and hopefully some fall-ish weather, please Lord yes!  This heat is awful!  Not to mention the pesky bugs.  The little bitty ones that you can feel but not see?  Ugh.  Anyone else feel like they are crawling up their nose and in their ears?

This Friday I am linking up with Erica, Narci and Andrea for this Friday’s Favorites. I’m calling them by name like they are my friends ha! But after reading their blogs for a couple of years and following them on Insta, I feel like I know them! Anyways. Every Friday they share their favorite things for the week. You can link up and join them too. It’s a great way to find new blogs to read.

ONE

Isn’t this the cutest little unicorn you ever did see? I think this is by far my favorite costume she’s ever dressed up in for Character Day at school.

Let’s not talk about the fact that this mommy almost forgot about book character day! Thankfully another mom posted something about it on Facebook and I saw it just in time. Wooo! Mackenzie is not happy when one forgets something. This girl knows how to turn on the waterworks.  She can be a little dramatic-not sure where she gets that from :).  Off I went to Target and found this adorable unicorn costume. #targetforthewin

TWO

My sister introduced me to It Cosmetics CC cream last summer during our beach vacation.  The coverage is amazing.  I don’t wear make up everyday, but still want/need something for coverage.  This works perfectly and is SPF 50.  I’ve been mixing two shades because on months when I am not tan the tan is too dark.  I mentioned this to my sister and she told me about their new shade, Medium Tan.  It’s the perfect shade.

THREE

These shoes!

During my unexpected trip to Target for a book character costume, I came up on these shoes.  Aren’t they adorable?  I love slip on shoes for everyday outfits.  I paired them with my J. Crew shorts I bought on clearance and a Gap T-shirt.  These Gap shirts are the best.  They are soft, light and come in a variety of colors.  I am excited to transition these shoes into my fall wardrobe.  How perfect would these be with cropped jeans and a cute plaid shirt?  Oh, and they were $24.99!  You can’t beat that!

FOUR

Two years ago when we first moved into our house I looked for two planters to put on each side of my front doors. My hubby, the frugal one, thought our money would be better served elsewhere. I was patient and waited on a better time…not my best attribute but I try!

While on a Home Depot trip to pick up paint samples, I asked Joseph to help me pick out some mums for our front door.  And there they were! The planters I wanted for my front doors! He agreed it was a good time to go ahead and get them, but he thought they may be too big.  Not me though, I knew they would be perfect.

I couldn’t wait to set them out. I was right, they WERE perfect. You know you are an adult when you get excited about planters ha!  Now to get some pumpkins-I love fall!

FIVE

I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook memories.  Yesterday it reminded me of this picture…

It’s me and my daddy doing what we did for so long.  He would preach in Spanish and I would interpret.  When I first started doing this I was probably in my early years as a teenager.  Honestly, I didn’t really like doing it at first.  As the years went by we started to get really good at it.  As he finished a sentence, I was already starting it in English.  We became in sync.  It became OUR thing.

SIX

If you knew me in my early years, then you knew me as Maggie with super curly hair.  Angels from heaven sang when I first discovered what a straightener was!  During the last 10 years I’ve worn my hair straight 90% of the time.   A lot of friends who didn’t know me back in my curly years didn’t even realize my hair was naturally curly.  My hair is thick, coarse, frizzy and has a mind of its own.  My sweet Mackenzie definitely inherited my curliness.  This morning as I was getting breakfast ready, AKA putting frozen pancakes in the microwave because balance, she says to me, “Mommy why is your hair so cray cray?”

This curly hair is no joke.  It is hard to tame and really it has a mind of its own.  My good friend Mary, who also does my hair introduced me to some pretty amazing products.  We call her “The hair whisperer” because she totally is.  Her hair is just like mine so she knows exactly what she is working with.  I mean we have to set aside two hours and sometimes more for my hair.  Thank you Mary for your patience! I get asked all the time, especially from ladies who knew me back in my curly days, what I use.  And this is it.  Y’all I have tried everything.  I’m telling you EVERYTHING.  These two products work amazingly together and keep my hair in place.  I put the Redken Frizz Dismiss on first.  And then I spray the Keratherapy on.  I comb it with a wide tooth comb and sometimes let it air dry through the night. The next morning I blow dry and straighten.  This morning I coached the 4:45am class so I didn’t have any time to fix it!

If you are looking for something to use for frizz, these are great!  Thanks again Mary for helping this girl tame “the beast!”

And that wraps up my first Friday Favorites!  What a fun way to reflect on the week.  I hope you have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend.
